Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world and as many as 125 airlines operate routes to the city, including:
- Air France;
- Air India;
- British Airways;
- Cathay Pacific;
- KLM;
- Royal Jordanian;
- Singapore Airlines;
- Turkish Airline
- United Airlines; and
- Virgin Atlantic, plus 115 more.
Dubai Airport is one of two major international airports in the United Arab Emirates, with the other being Abu Dhabi Airport. Dubai Airport is in the
Garhoud district and lies about two and a half miles from Dubai city centre.
Dubai Airport has three international terminals and a further two terminals for handling cargo, complemented by a section for dealing with perishable goods, a section for aircraft maintenance, and three exhibition halls in an expo centre.
Prior to leaving for Dubai it is a good idea to double-check the visa requirements. Citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council that comprises Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, and British citizens, are exempt from requiring a visa.
European citizens in the following countries are given a visa on arrival in Dubai: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Vatican.
People carrying passports from the following countries will also receive a visa on arrival: Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA, and Canada.
Israeli citizens and anyone who has an Israeli stamp in their passport will be denied entry to Dubai.
