Renting a car is an easy process and there are car rental companies in all the airports and locally in the cities and resorts of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (USE). A regular car is fine to rent for driving in the UAE, although some people who like to drive over dunes 
hire 4-wheel drives.
There are a number of good car rental and hire companies at the airport with many of the big companies represented including the likes of Hertz, Europcar and Dollar (car hire and rental companies which Westerners will be familiar with.

The roads are excellent in Dubai with quite new and modern stretches which take you from the airport to all of the main areas you are likely to want to visit. Compared with driving in a location such as Rome, Italy, I found driving in Dubai far easier.

To make renting a car in Dubai or any other location in fact, make sure to have a credit card available and driving licence. Most companies worldwide will expect a credit card to be used for the booking.
