Guide to the Dubai International Airport in UAE
The two principal airports in the United Arab Emirates are Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Dubai Airport serves Dubai, which is the largest city in the UAE and is one of the major airports serving the Middle East. The airport is located in the Garhoud district, which is about two and a half miles south east of the city centre.
Currently, Dubai Airport handles sixty million passengers a year but the airport is being expanded so that it can handle nearly eighty million passengers by 2011. By that time, the
airport will have three terminals and two cargo terminals. To complement the airport there will also be an area that deals with perishable goods such as flowers, an aircraft maintenance section and an expo centre boasting three exhibition halls.
Currently, Dubai Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world in terms of passenger numbers and is eleventh busiest regarding the handling of cargo.
