Dubai Horse Racing (World Cup and Winter Challenge)
Dubai World Cup
One of the most anticipated and watched annual horse racing events of the year in the UAE is the Dubai World Cup. Over ten years old, the Dubai World Cup is held on a two thousand metre track at the Nad Al Sheba racecourse. Considered one of the best places in the UAE to see over four hundred of the best thoroughbreds in competition, the Dubai World Cup is a world class horse race with a six million dollar prize. No betting is allowed in the Dubai World Cup, as it is illegal to bet in the country. As a result, this event draws a large number of true racing enthusiasts.
Super Thursday race
Another race which is quite popular is the Super Thursday race in Dubai. Although originally conducted as a kind of trial run of the Dubai World Cup, the Super Thursday 
races eventually gained popularity as a stand alone race. Today, the Super Thursdayraces are second only to the Dubai World Cup in terms of popularity and prize money.
Winter Racing Challenge
Also in the running for the most popular horse racing event in Dubai, is the Winter Racing Challenge held every year. This event is a series of races that take place at the end of the year, in an attempt to determine the participants in the Winter Racing Challenge; the six best performing horses from this set of races make the cut. Three final races are held as part of the Winter Racing Challenge on New Years Day every year. The Winter Racing Challenge is held at the Nad Al Sheba Race Course, which is also the venue for the Dubai World Cup.
