1. Dubai is a little piece of paradise and offers a magical way of life to attract people to the city and the emirate. The city itself has some excelent attractions and some of these are highlighted below.
2. Resort of Jumeirah - Dubai is divided by the River Creek with Deira to the north and Bur Dubai on the southern bank. About ten miles from the city centre is the popular resort of Jumeirah.
To cross the River Creek, there are water taxis that are called abras. On both sides of the river there are bustling souks, mosques, shopping malls,
banks, hospitals, schools, and various villas and apartment blocks. The River Creek flows into the Arabian Gulf where the beaches are white and palm-fringed. A new sports city is in the works and there are world-class golf facilities.
3. Old Dubai - In the old Bastakiya area of Dubai, it is possible to catch a glimpse of old Dubai with its narrow lanes and dark nooks and crannies.
4. Al Fahidi Fort - Al Fahidi Fort was built in 1799 and is now Dubai Museum. Step into the cool interior and take a peek at Dubai’s rich heritage and culture including a step into life lived in the desert. The museum has a wealth of historical artefacts including a collection of weaponry that includes spears, bows and arrows, swords, shields, axes and pistols.
5. Grand Mosque - Dubai’s Grand Mosque is hard to miss because it boasts the city’s highest minaret at seventy metres. The stunning building also has forty-five small domes to complement nine large domes that are resplendent with stained glass.
Burj Al Arab - Another modern icon is Burj Al Arab. It is a stunningly luxurious hotel that is officially five stars but is renowned the world over as the first seven-star hotel. It is built on a man-made island and has the look of a giant sail, billowing before the wind. Take a ride up to the Skyview bar and enjoy the stunning view.
